We are so excited about the seasons changing! Fall is our favorite. In fact when we first got engaged we were suppose to have our wedding in May, but that didn’t feel right. November felt just right for us.
I asked Scott what he wanted to do for his birthday and this is what he decided on. I think he is really getting into saw milling. We have been searching for a band saw mill. That may be the next step if we get super serious with it.
Scott showed me the Youtube commercials for Dr. Squatch. Oh my, they are hysterical and I completely understand why they focus their audience direction on men. It’s such an easy sell. Scott seems to like it so far. It does smell really good! Out of these three bar soap scents, I think deep sea goats milk is my favorite. They also have a choccy milk and cold brew scent. We might have to try those in the future. Maybe since Scott can’t tolerate coffee, he can shower with it and get the coffee effect from the scent?
The kiddos love playing with Scott’s old childhood toys more so sometimes than their new ones. I like that they like the classic stuff. I just cannot get into buying some of the new kids toys that are around these days.
This Week’s Books
Splat Cat books are always a favorite. “Hide and Seek” was cute too.
Shepard was a big fan of the Alison Jay 123 book. I think I read that just about every night and nap time. Once he finds one that he likes, he tends to stick with it all week. He also liked the “LMNO-pea-que” book, so we alternated between those. Ava like the “Hap-pea All Year”. I think her favorite part was that we always discussed whose birthdays were in each month.
“Skunkdog” and “Eek You Reek” of course were big hits. “Eek You Reek” was a good one. It talked about stinky animals through poetry. Ava actually did learn about some new animals. Now when she smells something bad, she says it smells like a hoatzin. “Animalphabet” was a cute flip up book with pretty illustrations. Both kids were a fan.
Gluten Free & Dairy Free Menu
With it being pumpkin season, you can expect to see some pumpkin pictures popping up very soon. Some might say that I am a bit of a pumpkin enthusiast. I do draw the line at pumpkin drinks though. I once bought pumpkin pie soda and bleh…awful awful. Other than that, pumpkin is fair game in anything else.
- Nachos with taco beef & cheese, black beans, and avocado.
- Grilled pork chop & chicken sausage with PK steak sauce, Toasted PB&J, and apples.
- Turkey slices, granola bar, avocado, and key lime coconut yogurt.
Toasted PB&J made a comeback this week. It actually took awhile for our kids to eat PB&J. They just weren’t big fans for the longest time. Another favorite made a comeback as well…coconut key lime yogurt.
- Grilled pork chop salad topped with honey roasted corn, creamy ranch, and jalapeƱos.
- Scott’s birthday request- Flourless peanut butter chocolate chip cookies.
- Spaghetti with Italian sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, and olives with broccoli.
We’ve done a few salads this week. This was the only one I managed to photograph. I guess I was too hungry to catch the others. These flourless peanut butter chocolate chip cookies are a fan favorite. They are so yummy. I have rarely made them without someone wanting the recipe for them. I haven’t made them in awhile, but I have a feeling they are going to reappear very soon. I also got compliments from Ava on the spaghetti. That can be rare, so I had to share.
These two are digging smoothies lately. Their favorite is strawberry lime from The Tropical Smoothie. They seem to like citrus flavors better. We got them strawberry banana once and it was a flop.
Farm Animals
She said what?!! I love when I take pictures of the chickens. They seem to be so intrigued by what I am doing and one always manages to strike a pose.
Pip, our silkie rooster, has become my favorite. Anytime of day when I come outside, he always just appears and hangs around. He is a feisty one but I embrace it now. If he gets feisty with me or tries to establish his pecking order with me, I just scoop him up and tote him around to let him know whose boss. Poor guy… he is not very high up on the pecking order. The other hens don’t back down to him unlike our other rooster Benny.
Sammy Sammy…always climbing on something.
The Quackers are getting their exercise outside of their pen and brooder these days. We are especially trying to get our two Pekin ducks plenty of exercise to strengthen their legs. I love how they don’t leave anyone behind anywhere they go. Scott likes their simultaneous turns and stops. It is amazing how in sync they are when moving about.
Workouts
I squeezed in a few workouts this week. After being super stiff and sore from running 2.5 miles last week. I thought I might take it down a notch this week and see how 2 miles felt. I also incorporated one of my favorite leg workouts. Gym Style Legs from Cathe’s Hardcore Series. I think Cathe’s Hardcore Series of workouts are my all time favorite workout series of hers. I believe she has six workouts in that series. They are all available on her app as well. These days I usually don’t have 68 minutes to devote to the entire workout, so I opt for a premix that is usually around 20-30 minutes.
My workout equipment is apparently dual purpose around here. Who knew a high step could be turned into a chair with an ottoman?
On Another Note…
I really like this shirt! I just wouldn’t want the attention that comes with it.
I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful week! God Bless!
