Meet Broody Judy. She has been sitting on eggs nonstop for months now. I decided that this poor hen needs to hatch a baby and so she did. Worried for its safety, I thought the baby chick should go to our brooder. But, by herself? The only logical thing I could think of was to get her a few friends. It just so happens that the farm store just got a shipment of new babies that day. I mean if ever there were a sign to do something, that was certainly one to me. Shepard agreed with me, so we decided to surprise both Ava and Scott with the new babies. Both were thrilled….especially Scott.
I was proud of myself though. I managed to just get three. Boy was that a hard decision!
Trying out the Momma shades. According to Ava they are too glam because I don’t get recognized in car rider pickup line when I wear them.
Ava received a good behavior certificate for the 1st nine weeks of school. Maybe I should make these at home and she would continue that at home?
Country kids don’t need too many toys. In fact these two are completely happy just having their own pile of dirt to play on. We’ve given up on keeping these guys outta stuff like this. We just buy stain remover in bulk now.
Kid Books
“I Spy Spooky Night” was a fun book. Shepard loves Little Blue Truck books, so we were happy to find a Halloween one. We also found something else wonderful…”Tool School”. It was a super cute book and is written by the same author as the “Pete the Cat” books. Definitely a Shepard book for sure.
Keeping with the Halloween theme, we found these books. Not going to lie…each one of these was a little strange in their own way.
Gluten Free & Dairy Free Menu
Aren’t these cupcakes pretty? Look delicious? Yes, they are pretty, but delicious NO! Ugh….coconut flour is my baking enemy and I mean it this time that this is my last attempt baking with coconut flour. I’m sure anyone else can make things with coconut flour that are delicious, but no matter what I try it always tastes like junk. Shepard and I both ate our cupcakes by licking off the frosting…..the only good part.
Since that was a fail, I decided to bake a cookie brownie and top it with the delicious frosting. After making this, I realized next time I should make whoopie cookies!
Farm & Garden
Spoiling the Quackers! These guys are so fun to watch. I cannot wait until we can start landscaping around the pond.
I’m not sure what the 3 little new cuties are just yet. They are straight run bantams, so all we know is that they will be small for sure.
First days are exhausting!
The Barn Build
Plumbing, Plumbing, Plumbing. I’m happy to say that we are closer to the finish line and expect to have our slab poured within the next week! I’m so excited. It will be so nice to see something inside the house besides dirt!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week! God Bless!
