Someone was super excited about a delivery that came this week. And it wasn’t the kiddos. Scootie has been patiently waiting for his sawmill to arrive. We/He has spent countless hours researching different sawmills and finally landed on a decision. While waiting, Scott was sure to make a large stack of trees that would be ready for its arrival.
Ava and Shepard pitched in to help put it together.
As I was watching him mill these trees, my Pinterest list just exploded. I haven’t told him that yet, but I am sure he is already expecting that.
This sweetheart overcame his fear of caterpillars this Spring. Last Spring he would definitely not be wearing a caterpillar. We are glad he is facing his fears, but I definitely miss hearing him say “pat-pillars”.
Little man is all about his wheelbarrow. He pushes that thing all around the yard and he “fixes” it quite often too with daddy’s tools he leaves out. If Scott has tools out anywhere, you can almost guarantee this little man is going to be borrowing them for something.
Ava was “lily pad hopping” with Scott’s leftover pieces from the milling. Her and her brother always find a use with these kinds of things. Who needs toys?
This Week’s Books
“Ol’ Mama Squirrel” was super cute. “Let’s Look at Spring” was short and informative. “Sea Sheep” was a favorite for the kiddos.
“Little Blue Truck’s Springtime” was definitely the favorite. Both kids really like the Little Blue Truck books. “Sorting through Spring” was my favorite for its information and detail.
Gluten Free & Dairy Free Menu
- Grass-fed burgers topped with vegan queso, fries with Tessemae Ketchup, and broccoli.
- Grilled pork chops, basmati rice, and green beans with bacon.
We have been doing burgers almost once a week lately. The kiddos are big fans and they are just super easy on the grill. Another easy favorite I can do on the grill that the kiddos also really like is pork chop. Both are also big fans of rice and thankfully they are also getting less messy with eating it. Scott use to dread when I made them rice because it was a guaranteed mess every.single.time.
- Peanut butter & chocolate chip cookie bars.
- Instant Pot Indian Butter Chicken with basmati rice and peas.
I mixed up my usual peanut butter and chocolate chip cookie recipe, but attempted to make them more in a cookie bar form. But, what I think I ended up with was one giant gooey cookie. Still delicious, just extra messy when it was hot. After it cooled it was more like a cookie bar. The IP Indian butter chicken was a new recipe I tried and to my utter shock…both kids actually liked it and ate all of it that I put on their dinner plates. #WinforMama
Farm Animals
Ava loves her polar bear Bo. She always stops what she is doing to give this guy some love.
Yet another fan of Elsa and Ana.
We have had our tadpoles for a few weeks now. We actually had them as frog eggs and they are just now growing into bigger sized tadpoles. The kiddos have enjoyed checking on their growth.
Speaking of growing, we have started our first batch of eggs in the incubator. We are starting with 10 to see how it goes (4 Silkie eggs and 6 Buff Orpington eggs).
This is what they look like after about 6 days in the incubator. It is so exciting to check them everyday. I have a few videos where you can actually see the embryo moving….so cool. On the left is one of the silkie eggs and on the right is one of the buff orpington eggs.
Fitness
The first season of t-ball has commenced. After Ava’s first game, she asked us if we could see the smoke that her feet made from running so fast. Batting and running are her favorite. We are very proud of the confidence she has gained and the perseverance she has displayed. She is going to keep both Scott and myself in shape because she loves running and is starting to ask more if we can run with her. Neither one of us can say no to that. I think maybe if we tag team we can get through this as she grows.
On Another Note…
I think we found another playground accessory to think about because we can never seem to pull the kids away from these tires at the t-ball fields. They have been there forever. Shepard quickly picked up his climbing skills from playing on them.
Cousin love. How cute are they?! It cracks me up whenever Ava and Shepard talk about how they are going to share Sophia.
I hope everyone has a fabulous week! God Bless!
This was my kids Sunday school memory verse today. I loved it and have been using it all day! Enjoy!
