What a sweet weekend with a sweet group of kiddos! I call them the Fab Five. It is not difficult to tell that they each have their own unique personality. Shep is going to learn a lot about ladies with having all girl cousins. But then again, all the little ladies are going to learn a lot about tractors and trucks from hanging with him.
I bought some balloons for making animals with the intent of finding someone with that talent and I definitely found some. I like to be sneaky like that. So now I think Scott and Ian can be a balloon making duo at future birthday parties! Hehe.
This Week’s Books
“Wolfie the Bunny” was precious and funny. “Nothing” was a favorite along with “AlphaOops”.
Ava’s favorite was “Henry’s 100 Days of Kindergarten”. I am hoping this is good preparation.
Gluten Free & Dairy Free Menu
- Bastil pesto pasta with grilled chicken, broccoli, and apples.
- Taco salad with cabbage, kale, chips, grass-fed beef, crushed tortilla chips, and Tessemae Habanero Ranch.
To my utter shock, the kiddos were big fans of the basil pesto pasta. I finally found a vegan pesto sauce from Trader Joe’s, so I will be making more trips there! I was sure when I put their plates on the table, they were definitely going to complain first about it being green and then question the little spices, and then about it being too hard to eat. Dinner with children always keeps you on your toes.
Farm & Garden
We have had really good luck with growing spaghetti squash this summer and decided to share some with the chickens. Apparently, they are big fans especially the silkies. They devoured all of it. Even the dogs finished off the shells.
The big hens like it too. Blackberries are their new jam right now. We have found several wild patches growing around the property. The kiddos like to pick them and feed the birds.
These two definitely love being chicken caretakers.
And my man has been cutting more lumber with the sawmill to extend the chicken run and add another coop for the silkies and Easter Eggers.
On Another Note…
Something not so sweet this past week…a mishap with my SUV. I will never purchase a portable canopy again. Wind is apparently our enemy. Something similar happened nearly 10 years ago with my Camry. We kept her for a long time, so maybe that is a sign.
I hope everyone had a fabulous 4th! God Bless America!
