It’s hard to believe that Ava is already starting school. It just doesn’t seem like it was that long ago when she was just this tiny little person staring back at me or sleeping on me.

Thankfully, she has had a great first week and seems to love school. However, it is rather difficult to pry any details out of her. What did you learn today? I dunno. Who did you talk to today? I dunno. What activity did you get to do today? I dunno.

This was her second day. She was super excited about her chicken shirt. In fact, that is usually the first thing she mentions when I pick her up from school. “Can I go check on and hold my chickens?”

3rd day!

4th day, P.E. day!

Funday Friday!

She was one of two students able to complete their alphabet by themselves in computer lab. Yay! Her sweet teacher sent me this picture.

Days look a little different for Shep while sister is at school. He is managing just fine.

My new workout is pushing his bike up this hill he loves riding down about 100x a day.

Tree climbing. He was so excited about doing this. When we picked Ava up after school one day, he told her about his tree climbing and how she could do it too, but he would be the one to go first. #siblings

Shep has also become my sole farm helper in the mornings. He also adores his chickens.

Gluten Free & Dairy Free Menu

  1. Coconut lime chicken with basmati rice, green beans, and sweet peas.
  2. Salad with arugula, kale, butternut squash with bacon, avocado, jalapeños, and homemade fried pickles topped with Tessemae Creamy Ranch.

I love fried pickles. These will be making more appearances in meals.

  1. Lentil pasta with zucchini, bacon, and garlic sauce with black beans and corn in lime & olive oil dressing.
  2. French fry bowl with sautéed chicken, green beans & bacon topped with Primal Kitchen Steak Sauce.

Normally I would add tomatoes in my garden salad with the beans and corn, but much to my dismay nobody else likes them. I really think Shep actually likes them, but he plays it cool because Daddy and Ava do not. One of these days he will stand by me and we will be team tomato.

Gluten Free & Dairy Free Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Blondies

These blondies were delicious. I made them with cashew butter, which I am a big fan of. They were super soft and had kind of a buttery cheesecake texture.

Farm & Garden

Ellie Jelly Bear seeked refuge with us on the golf cart during a pop-up shower.

Shepard decided to share a chicken nugget with Abby and she was delighted to savor it.

Shepard’s favorite silkies are our two white ones..We call them Cottonball and Snowball. They are super soft and super sweet.

Another sweet bird breed we are loving are our Easter Eggers.

The Barn Build

We are progressing. The weather hasn’t cooperated too much with that. It seems like lately it is either raining or super hot and humid and sometimes both. Next week looks like all upper 90s….ugh. Scott goes through about 3 changes of clothes each day.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe week! God Bless!

Hi There! We are Scott and Jamie. We’ve been married over 10 years, have 2 wonderful children (Ava & Shepard), 18 chickens, and our beloved maltipoo Abby. Thanks for reading about our journey!
