Tiny Living/ Kids / Gluten & Dairy Free Food / Farm Animals / Fitness

We still have hay bales on a trailer from last weekend’s birthday party, so we continued the hay rides this week. It is definitely feeling and looking like Fall around here.

Scott was sure to make a custom seat not only for the kids, but for Abby as well.

It has been pretty rainy and cold this week, so it was so nice to have a warm campfire that we and apparently the farm animals could gather around.

We let the kiddos cook their own dinner one night. It went well. If you like hotdogs with extra ash on them, these two are pros. Needless to say, we only let them cook one each.

I love having a two seater bike carrier to tote the kids around in. Just give them some popcorn and they are ready for a ride. We will probably never get rid of it since we have already thought of numerous uses for it even when the kids outgrow it. Instead of a two kid carrier, it might end up being a two dog carrier.

When I asked Ava what princess she wanted to be for Halloween, she of course wanted to be Elsa her current favorite. Shepard with his love for trains, I thought he would for sure want to be a train conductor. However, He is not much into playing dress up like big sister, so it took some convincing like candy to get his costume on.

Every year the kiddos trick or treat the family that all live down the same country road. Ava has already asked me when the next Halloween is. I think she really enjoys the treats!

This Week’s Books

“The Color Zoo” was a big hit with both kiddos. “Is That You, Monster?” was definitely Ava’s favorite, probably because it had a bunch of secret pockets throughout the book. “Cake” was a cute read.

“I Got a Chicken For My Birthday” was super cute and perfect for Ava.

“Big Words for Little Geniuses” was a fabulous book. Scott and I both enjoyed reading this a few times and had the opportunity to laugh at each other while trying to pronounce some of the big words. “The Scarecrow’s Wedding” was cute. “Spinderella” was terrible…..super long and super boring. I refused to read this one more than once. Never have I refused to read a book when the kids ask….until this one and I usually like Julia Donaldson books.

Gluten Free & Dairy Free Menu

  1. Mashed sweet potato topped with grass-fed beef, asparagus cooked with bacon, and black beans.
  2. Energize smoothie mixed with oat milk.
  3. Lentil pasta with chicken sausage, peppers, & broccoli.

I’m all about warm bowls of food lately, especially since it is getting to colder weather these days. Also, I am all about easy lunches like smoothies. My favorite combination lately is this energize smoothie made with pineapple, mango, banana, and matcha green tea mixed with oat milk. If you like oatmeal, you would probably like oat milk because it tastes kinda like your drinking oatmeal. That may sound gross to some, but it is actually quite tasty.

Farm Animals

Ava and all of her chickens. She definitely has chicken love. They seem to adore her as well, especially when she is handing out snacks.

Thirteen cute waddlers. These quackers will swim in their pool no matter how cold or windy it is outside….nonsense but they seem to love it. Can you believe they are 8 weeks old?

This time around I caught Sammy with his upper lip briefly stuck. To me, I think it looked more funny on Dean. These guys have been doing some growing lately.

Workouts

My back was feeling better last week thanks to some stretching, higher dose ibuprofen, and hubby support. I did go to the doctor and thankfully I do not seem to have any disc issues. While I was there, I did have to step on the scale…something I have not done since maybe March. Needless to say I was horrified and immediately got back to a more strenuous workout schedule.

On Another Note….

This would definitely describe my attire most days and definitely describes my attitude towards both our silkie rooster and our buff orpington rooster. I am a bit of softie for Pip though. He is feisty, but he follows me around everywhere waiting for me to pick him up.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week! God Bless!

Hi There! We are Scott and Jamie. We’ve been married over 10 years, have 2 wonderful children (Ava & Shepard), 18 chickens, and our beloved maltipoo Abby. Thanks for reading about our journey!
