Meet Bonnie. She is our newest family member. Bonnie was rescued from one of our dear family members who found her. We are not sure how old she is. Poor Bonnie has what appears to be a broken arm that didn’t heal quite correctly because she can’t really seem to use it. She can put weight on it, but because it is bent at the elbow she uses her other three legs to get around. Which she does quite well. This little survivor is super sweet and friendly.
Ava now has chickens, goats, ducks, Abby, and a cat to take care of. She will be staying quite busy…hehe.
Now that all the leaves are falling from the trees, the kiddos enjoy making large leaf piles and diving in.
I have to say that I much prefer them burying themselves in leaves versus the sand.
Ava and I got to spend an afternoon together. Since she is my first child she use to have all my attention and now she shares a lot of that with Shepard. It’s nice to just have that time with each of them one on one. The weather was gorgeous, so we had a picnic at a park, grabbed a coffee, and did a little browsing at all the Christmas decor at Hobby Lobby. Looking at all that Christmas decor made me super excited about decorating our tiny house and tiny farm this year.
This Week’s Books
“The Runaway Pumpkin” was super cute. We are really becoming fans of Doreen Cronin books. Her farm animal characters are so cute and funny.
“Swim, Swim, Sink” was adorable. It is about a little duck who is different from his brothers and sisters because he can’t seem to swim. It is a good lesson on how everyone is different and how everyone sees/thinks differently.
“I Don’t Want to Be Big” was Ava’s favorite for the week. “10 Little Ninjas” was Shepard and Ava’s most requested book from Daddy. I didn’t get to read that one, so I’m guessing Daddy was the better reader for that one. It’s such a competition around here…..hehe.
Gluten Free & Dairy Free Menu
- Grilled Chicken topped with guacamole, instant pot mashed potatoes with bacon & green onion, and broccoli.
- Cajun chicken sausage pasta with peppers & green onion and sautéed spinach with bacon & tomatoes.
- Chocolate chip paleo pancake and scrambled eggs with spinach.
Check out those eggs! We are definitely enjoying our fresh eggs around here. We are up to about an average of getting 6 eggs a day from our hens. They are delicious and I think it is partly because we know exactly what we are eating and what the process was for getting them from farm to table.
Farm Animals
Where’s my snack?! Snacks Snacks Snacks….it is not just kids that want them all the time! We do indulge them a few times a day because we want happy “egg-laying” hens.
My dear Pip….he is getting a green tail. He does kinda remind me of the grinch, so it is fitting. Our little grinch fur bird.
These ladies won’t be laying eggs until March although they are just as big if not bigger than the hens. I love how they all sound different. No two have the same quack. That is something I never noticed or paid attention to until we got our flock.
Workouts
Pre-kids I use to do Cathe’s Body Blast series. It was my all time favorite. Since I am trying to get in better shape and help my back out these days, I pulled this out from the archive. I was reminded why this was so effective in my previous experience. I scorched upwards of 450 calories just in the workout. My goal is to make time to continue this series through the week. If you have never tried kickboxing, I would have to recommend it. Not only does it burn fat, but it is also a great stress reliever. The kickboxing routines are also fun.
On Another Note…
I will be adding these cute hair pieces to my Etsy and Ebay store soon!
I will also be adding some more earring designs and colors to the stores as well. Need a pop of red? Make a statement with your lips and your earrings!
I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful week! God Bless!
